Francisco Salzillo y Alcaraz
was born May 12th 1707 in Murcia
and died March 2nd 1783, also in Murcia
Francisco Salzillo ran a big wood-sculptor workshop, in which also other family members took share. Next to small wooden figures made of wood and terracotta Salzillo also crafted big wooden figures and groups of figures of which some are clothed. Most of them can be seen during the Semana Santa. They are testimony of the late phase of the Spanish baroque age
